I WANT TO BE HAPPY

Hi God. There are times when I’m fine. I’m content. I feel happy. But then some ding-a-ling comes along and “road rages” me for no reason. Or I get someone incredibly rude at the store. Or a co-worker is in a totally foul mood and just ruins my day.

Poof. Happiness gone!

Your Word says, “count it all joy.” I haven’t been counting it all joy. In fact, sometimes, I’ve been counting the whole day as a loss. I had happiness for a minute, but I let someone hijack it.

I guess my joy isn’t too hard to steal if all it takes is someone in a bad mood. I shouldn’t be letting people pull me down with them. Instead, I should be helping them up.

The enemy is a thief ! (You warned me about that.) So when I’m happy, he’s going to try to spoil it. When I’m walking in love and your blessing, he’s going to try and rip them off.

I have been letting the enemy rip off my “happy” way too easily. I haven’t been just allowing the enemy in—I’ve been holding the door wide open! It’s almost like I’ve been saying, “Here you go, crabby people—just take my cheer away!” Nope. Not anymore.

I’m closing the door on the joy stealers. I’m dead-bolting that puppy and guarding my happiness and my peace like it’s something precious … because it is!

Joy isn’t what happens to me; it is what happens through me!

I’ll count whatever happens joy because I know the plan of the enemy was at work, and today he loses! Blessed are those who learn to praise you and rejoice no matter what.
